Theme:  Brothers From Other Mothers

Reason… Season… Lifetime…

From early childhood, I taught my sons and their friends to treat each other like brothers.

Why?

Brothers care about each other.

Brothers watch out for each other.

Brothers know or learn that if anything happens when they are together they better know

when to talk, fight or run together.

Over the years, my sons developed relationships with many who became

  • God Brothers

  • Lifetime Friends

  • Acquaintances

  • Someone they thought they knew

  • Someone who recognized them

Brothers from other mothers have or learn to have mutual respect, trust, honesty, common interests, and ability to keep it real and genuinely like and care about each other.

Brothers from other mothers became Extended Family and Lifetime Friends.

Brothers from other mothers are treated like they are my sons and my sons’ brothers.

Imagine several neighbors (boys) between the ages of 2 – 6 years old. They meet. They played together inside and outside. They learned to skate, ride bike, swim and discover interests they have in common or not. They played video games, watched cartoons, movies, and favorite shows.

Imagine those boys spending time with my sons and I at home and almost every time we went anywhere. Yes, anywhere… family celebrations, amusement parks, picnics, drive-in movies, spontaneous adventures and more.

Imagine brothers meeting new people, establishing new relationships, making new friends, learning new interests, and becoming more independent. Brothers are still brothers. Brothers from other mothers become Lifetime Friends and Extended Family.

Reason… Season… Lifetime…

How did you learn that everybody is not your friend?

Were you taught to discern between ‘Reason’, ‘Season’ or Lifetime?

Were you taught that ‘Reason’ and ‘Season’ relationships or friendships may have good or bad intent?

I was taught to treat everyone like family. I grew up in a home with God, Love and Laughter.

I was also taught some people would take love, respect, and kindness for weakness.

My sons were taught the same.

One of My Life’s Greatest Joys are the several neighbors mentioned earlier and many others who have become my sons’ brothers from other mothers.

From childhood to adulthood, they have Lived, Laughed and Loved Life together. They stay connected and show up for each other.

They are adults now. Many have children. A few have grandchildren… (That made me feel my age!)

Brothers from other mothers remain Lifetime Friends and Extended Family.

My Sons… Only Different!

From my heart to yours, Dianne Lawson 💞
