Sometimes People Need Presence More Than Answers

Theme: Intentional Stillness
Not silence.
Stillness.
There's a difference.
Silence is the absence of sound.
Stillness is the presence of attention.
When I am still...
I notice life continuing all around me.
Traffic.
Crickets.
Appliances doing their quiet work.
A neighbor living their ordinary day or evening.
None of those sounds interrupted my stillness.
They became part of it.
I am intentionally still when I need to pause for myself.
I am intentionally still when supporting someone and my presence is enough.
I am intentionally still when I realize another thing is about to be added to my overflowing plate…
You can only do so much…
You can only carry so much…
You can only commit to so much…
Life rarely asks permission before adding one more responsibility, one more concern, one more opportunity to help.
And Then!
Before becoming intentionally still, you must identify the ‘and then’…
When you look at whatever it is you are facing for yourself or in support of others, before you do anything…
Do you first ask “what is the need?”
And then, do you ask “how will the need be addressed?”
And then, do you ask “is this something I can do or support?”
And then, do you take action or intentionally be still?
Sometimes, our presence is the answer.
Intentional Stillness is an action… only different.
